Introduction | Minoxidil, also known as minoxidil, is a white or quasi-white crystalline powder, slightly soluble in water or chloroform, slightly soluble in ethanol. It can directly act on the blood vessel wall, expand small arteries, reduce peripheral resistance, and decrease blood pressure. It can also increase heart rate and cardiac output, but its antihypertensive effect is more significant and lasting than hydralazine |
Application | Antihypertensive drugs for refractory, primary, or renal hypertension.
Used to prevent greasy alopecia and animal husbandry. |
